The city of Golden has become a regular part of the USA Pro Cycling Challenge, as well as the final stop for the Ride the Rockies circuit. And speaking of cold beer Golden is home to the Coors Brewery where brew masters create one of the country's most popular and best-tasting beers.

Golden features many downtown parks where residents and visitors can enjoy a picnic. In the winter, Golden makes a great basecamp for skiers headed to the many ski resorts found further up I-70. The hills closer to home also supply miles of trails for snowshoers and cross-country skiers. Golden was named after Thomas L. Golden, a gold prospector who arrived in Jefferson County in 1858. After the Gold Rush, farmers soon discovered the rich soil in the valley that is now home to Coors Brewery. Golden City became the capital of the federally recognized Colorado Territory in 1862, and the territorial legislature met from 1862 to 1867 in the building that is now home to the Old Capital Grill restaurant.

Today, Golden is known for its abundance of recreational, cultural, and culinary opportunities. Residents can live, work, and play in a modern city with an Old West flair.
